Principal's Advisory Council
The council is composed of distinguished Old Boys, parents and friends of the College, each of whom is an extraordinary Canadian citizen. The council is focused on advancing the interests and mission of UCC and provides advice and assistance to the principal and governors.
David R. Beatty ’60
A former Chairman of the Board of Governors, David R. Beatty is a professor at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. He is an Honorary Trustee, former Prize Day Speaker, and father to alumni Charles ’88, David ’86 and Kenneth ’87 Beatty.
Howard Bernick ’70
Howard Bernick runs Chicago-based Bernick Holdings Inc. He is the former President and CEO of Alberto Culver.
Jim Cuddy ’74
Juno award–winning musician Jim Cuddy is one of Canada’s best-loved singer songwriters and a founding member of Blue Rodeo.
John C. Eaton ’57
John C. Eaton is a former Chairman of the UCC Board of Governors. He is an Honorary Trustee and father of Old Boys Henry ’81 and John ’79, and grandfather to two current UCC students.
George Estey is the Managing Director and co-founder of Greenhill & Co.’s Toronto office. Greenhill is an investment banking firm. Previously, he was Chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs Canada. His two sons are graduates of UCC, Eric ’04 and Alexander ’08.
Larry Grafstein ’78
Larry Grafstein is the Managing Director at Lazard Freres & Co. LLC and is a member of the U.S. Board of Trustees. He has also been a speaker at the College’s annual Founder’s Day Assembly.
Hon. Henry N.R. (Hal) Jackman
One of Canada’s best-known philanthropists and financiers, the Honourable Henry N.R. (Hal) Jackman is a former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and former Chancellor of the University of Toronto. He served on the UCC Board of Governors and has been awarded the UCC Fellowship. He is also the father of alumnus Henry Jackman ’84.
Stuart Lang ’70
Stuart Lang recently retired from his position as President of CCL Label Europe, a division of family-controlled CCL Industries. He was a member of the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos football team from 1974–81, where he participated in five Grey Cup victories.
Phil Lind ’62
Phil Lind (UCC) is the Vice-Chairman of Rogers Communications. He sits on the Board of Trustees and is father to UCC alumnus Jed Lind ’97.
Stephen Lister is Managing Partner at Imperial Capital Corp. which he co-founded in 1989. He has been a director and/or trustee of many private and public companies, including Stantec Inc., E.D. Smith & Sons Ltd., Associated Freezers income Trust and Lise Watier Cosmetics. He and his wife, Molly Rundle, are parents to alumni Jonathan Lister '10 and Benjamin Lister '12.
T. Michael Long
T. Michael Long is a Partner at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., one of the largest private banking firms in the United States. A member of the UCC Board of Trustees, Mr. Long is also a past UCC parent of Hampton Long ’95.
Michael MacMillan ’74
Michael MacMillan is the former Chairman of the Board of Governors. He is the founder and former Executive Chairman of Alliance Atlantis Communications.
A noted philanthropist, the Honourable Margaret McCain is the grandmother of UCC alumni Jonathan McCain ’03 and James McCain ’09. She was appointed as the first female Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick and was honoured with a UCC Fellowship in 2006. She is an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Michael McCain is President & CEO of Maple Leaf Foods. He co-chaired the 2000 Shades of Blue Auction and is the father of UCC Old Boys Jonathan ’03 James ’09.
A noted philanthropist, Kelly Meighen is Executive Director of the T.R. Meighen Foundation. She is Vice-Chair of the UCC Board of Governors and mother of UCC Old Boys Hugh ’01 and Max ’07.
Greg Meredith ’76
A member of the U.S. Board of Trustees, Greg Meredith is a former member of the Calgary Flames and Trustee of the Meredith Family Foundation.
Raymond Moriyama founded Moriyama + Teshima Architects and is one of Canada’s most respected architects. He is a member of the Ontario Association of Architects and the Canadian Institute of Planners, a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. He is a past UCC parent (Ajon Moriyama ’82, Jason Moriyama ’80) and current UCC grandparent to Michael Moriyama ’14.
Anthony Ormsby ’44
Honorary Trustee Anthony Ormsby is a past Chair of the Board of Governors. He is also father to two Old Boys: Anthony ’76 and Timothy ’78.
Lawrence Pentland is the father of a current UCC student and is the Vice-President of Americas International of Dell Inc.
J. Robert Prichard ’67
J. Robert Prichard is Transition Advisor at Metrolinx. Before joining Metrolinx he was President & CEO of Torstar Corporation and prior to that he was President of the University of Toronto (1990–2000) and also Dean of the University’s Faculty of Law. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a Member of the Order of Ontario. His sons Wilson Prichard ’99 and Kenneth Prichard ’01 also attended UCC.
Andy Pringle ’69
A past Chair of the Board of Governors, Andy Pringle is a member of the Board of Trustees and a Past President of the UCC Association. The former Managing Director of RBC Capital Markets and former Chair of the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR), he is President of the PC Ontario Fund. His two sons, Anthony ’02 and Geoffrey ’04, attended UCC.
Molly Rundle is a family physician. She and her husband, Stephen Lister, are parents to alumni Jonathan Lister '10 and Benjamin Lister '12.
A former UCC Principal, Richard Sadleir joined the College in 1953 as an English teacher. He served as principal from 1975 to 1988. He is the father of old boy Thomas Sadleir ’78.
Tom Simpson is an investor and former partner in Global Strategy Financial. An avid Prep School volunteer, Mr. Simpson is a parent to a current UCC student.
John Stevenson ’47
He is an Honorary Trustee of the College, former UCC Association President and past Chairman of the UCC Board of Governors. A UCC volunteer award is named in his honour.
Henry Vehovec is President of Mindfirst Inc. and father to two Old Boys.
W. Galen Weston
Chairman of George Weston Ltd., Galen Weston is a well-known and respected business leader. An Honorary Trustee of the College, Mr. Weston is the father of UCC Old Boy Galen ’92.
Bill Wilder ’40
A prominent business leader, financier and philanthropist, Bill Wilder is one of UCC’s Honorary Trustees and father to three UCC Old Boys: William’75, Thomas ’76 and Andrew ’80.
Michael H. Wilson ’55
A former Finance Minister and Canadian Ambassador to the United States, the Honourable Michael Wilson '55 is a member of the UCC Board of Governors, father of UCC alumni Geoffrey ’86 and Cameron ’84, and a recipient of the UCC Fellowship.
