Grade 3, 5, 6, 7+ (Day): Upon receipt of all required documents, selected candidates will be contacted to arrange an interview. Interviews take place from November through mid-February for day applicants and through spring for boarding candidates.
The interview is about 45 minutes in total. Before spending time with the applicant, one of our Admission Counselors will meet briefly with parents. During the applicant interview, the student will be asked to read a short piece while the remainder of the time is a relaxed conversation where he is encouraged to share information about himself and get to know us. The interview is meant to give insight into the applicant and family’s personalities, interests and values. It is also an opportunity for parents to gain a deeper insight into who we are and what we do at UCC.
Grade 5, 6, 7 + (Day): While the Admission Counselor meets with parents, the applicant will be asked to complete a short writing sample. The writing exercise has two purposes: it is intended to give the applicant an opportunity to express himself creatively, and to give us a snapshot of his ability to express himself thoughtfully and creatively. The writing sample is not graded.
Boarding: Interviews may take place via Skype for international students if a campus visit is not possible. Please note that in some cases interviews will not be scheduled until test results have been received.
Senior Kindergarten: Family visits take place during the week of March 24 - 28, 2014. Families will be contacted in late-February to schedule their visit.
Limited-entry: Should space permit, selected candidates will be contacted to arrange an interview during the week of April 14 - 17, 2014.
We request that at least one parent participate in the interview process.
