Expression. Sharing of vision. Making cool stuff. In a media-saturated world of instant communication, a talent for translating ideas visually give our students an edge.
Students keep active and develop self-confidence and team-building skills through their involvement in UCC’s first-rate visual and performing arts programs. Through the drama and theatre programs, students undertake major productions, including musicals. Also popular are smaller theatrical productions in which young students portray their favourite characters. At all ages, students have ample opportunities to become involved in choral and instrumental music.
In our big, windowed art rooms students draw, paint, do photography and sculpture, graphic design and digital media. Many courses include visits by guest artists and designers, plus trips to galleries and museums. IB art students also get an annual trip to New York.
Creativity provides opportunities for personal growth through cultural appreciation and achievement in performance, music and art. Students might join a band or choir, write articles or design pages for a student publication or shoot photos with the Photography Club. Work can be displayed in our annual public exhibit and arts festival.
