1. Minds Matter

To enhance the learning environment at Upper Canada College (UCC) by facilitating a greater understanding of the different learning styles and needs of all students at UCC, and assist them in developing strategies appropriate to their learning profile

The CENTRE FOR LEARNING meets this mandate by:

Scheduling class visits on developing study and test-taking skills
Planning activities and discussions in the area of academic reflection and goal setting through the Guidance Life Skills Program (Prep School) and the House Advisory Program (Upper School)

Providing various group sessions in the Centre for Learning on exam preparation, test taking, time-management and study skills at scheduled times throughout the year.

Encouraging any student to visit the Centre for Learning
“Open Centre” times are posted for boys at the Prep School and forms to schedule an appointment are on the board outside the Centre for Learning offices at the Upper School.

Planning programs and support for parents to help them understand the many issues around learning styles and differences, with a focus on boys and learning.
