Invest in UCC

Gifts to the UCC Fund
The UCC Fund is the engine that drives so many programs and has a huge impact on the day-to-day experience of the boys. Contributing is a great way to support UCC’s highest priorities.
For more information, please contact annual giving manager Joanne Weedmark at 416-488-1125, ext. 2000 or jweedmark@ucc.on.ca.
Gifts of Stock and Appreciated Securities
Many people who own stock that has appreciated over the years are concerned about paying a large capital gains tax when they sell. A good alternative is to contribute that stock to UCC, turning a potential tax bill into a tax deduction.
For instructions on making gifts of stock or appreciated securities, please view this document. You may also contact annual giving manager Joanne Weedmark at 416-488-1125, ext. 2000 or jweedmark@ucc.on.ca.
Corporate Matching Gifts
Many companies match the gifts of employees, spouses, directors or retirees. Click here to see if your company will match any donation you make to UCC, doubling the impact of your contribution. Search for matching gift companies now.
Gifts in Memoriam and in Honour of
These gifts provide lasting recognition for family, friends or colleagues, or to mark special occasions such a graduation, birthday, wedding or anniversary.
In both cases, these gifts convey a depth of emotion and a sense of connection to the recipient. UCC takes special care with such gifts. The donor is sent an acknowledgment letter and the recipient is notified in writing. Dollar amounts aren't revealed, only the sentiment. For gifts that memorialize a passing, the family is notified.
By making such a gift, you not only memorialize and honour those who deserve recognition, but you invest in the future of a community with which the gift recipient has a strong and positive association.

Gifts-in-Kind or Gifts of Personal Property
The acceptance of gifts-in-kind is made on a case-by-case basis. The primary criterion is that the gift furthers the school’s mission. The school is legally prohibited from appraising gifts of personal property. For donations worth $1,000 or more, the donor must provide an independent third-party appraisal from a qualified professional.

Named Funds
Would you like to commemorate a special teacher, family member or classmate? A named, endowed fund allows donors to recognize the special role UCC has played in their lives. The College currently has about 220 named funds. The stories about the funds’ creation are often poignant and compelling. Perhaps you are an alumni who wishes to memorialize a parent or friend. Maybe you’d like to celebrate a classmate’s memory by offering educational opportunities to future students. Each endowed gift to UCC provides a unique legacy.
The minimum gift to endow a scholarship or prize fund is $100,000. Please contact Carly Ely in the advancement office at 416-488-1125, ext. 2233 or CEly@ucc.on.ca.
Planned Gifts
You can include UCC in your estate plans through bequests, charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts. Consider the following options as you begin to plan for your future legacy.
Bequests: This gift, made through your will, is the most common type of planned gift. Arranged today, a bequest is not paid to UCC until after your death. You can give a specific sum, property or a percentage of your estate.
Life Insurance: A gift of life insurance is a simple and thoughtful way to make a gift to UCC. Insurance allows you to make a modest gift now for a significant gift in the future.
Charitable Gift Annuities: This is the gift that keeps on giving. Charitable gift annuities enable you to make an immediate gift to the College and receive guaranteed income for life.
Charitable Remainder Trusts and Gifts of Residual Interest: This gift is invested to give you an ongoing income, with the capital going to UCC upon death. Residual interest gifts allow you to donate the asset today (residence, art, investment property) and enjoy the use of it for the rest of your life, with the gift going to UCC upon death.
